Because Cricket is more exciting game than Hockey and we can play cricket with only two or three persons in a small ground but we can't play Hockey in our roof or corridor. and for playing Hockey we need about more than 6 or 7 people

although hockey is our national game but there are no money in this game. without money a smart personal looking like beggars. in the same way cricket is highlighted due to its glamour and money. every tv, radio, media is publishing/broadcasting news only about cricket. so our new generation is use to for cricket not for hockey.

Hockey is our national game but still we go n cheer for cricket only & cricketers are our super hoeros n gods for us as they plan n win for india same is with the hockey but they do not get any recognition due to which this sports have lost the charm

Cricket attracts more glamour and more vibrant media presence.Hockey lost the plot in 90's and cricket became omnipresent.We still love to watch hocket but i doubt if given a choice any of us will choose hockey over cricket for playing.

Yeah, I also hope that this is not a new trend. Indian government is only concerned where larger scale of profits are earned. In that way, if you see, Hockey has lesser revenues than other sports like cricket. Cricket has eluded India completely and can't be replaced by hockey in any means. Cricket has become an unofficial national game of India. Hockey's name is only found in the register books without any shine anymore. It needs to be revitalised with dynamic guidance and coaching, trainings etc. Then certainly India can again bring back its Dhyanchand vigor of old days!

Well, it doesn't makes much difference. Hockey was chosen as National Game because it gave pride to India at that time. Cricket is the National Game of Britain but Football is much famous there.

Cricket is not detrimental to other sports its just that we have good batsmen in India who hits big shots no one cares for bowlers in other sports its not big & lengthy as cricket. So other sports should have famous recognized players to make it famous.

India can think of winning gold medals in Olympics only if cricket is knocked out of our minds. Its a dull game and a very slow one too and not a scientific as well. If a batsman gets out, he can never be back in the game which makes it very unscientific. Stupid game followed by stupid people. It is played in just 7 or 8 countries It is affecting other sports very much. This game should be banned.

Why all people are shouting against cricket.can't u all shout at the door of government to provide adequate facilities to other sports to groom them.bcci is not responsible for the corruption going on in other sports respective boards.if this can be minimized and performance of other sports will surely inspire youngesters.we indians are passionate about cricket due to our team's competitiveness unlike other sports

It's only after 70ies and the invention of television make this game popular & reached to the masses. The other reason is thec efforts put by the cricketers of that time like Sunil Gavaskar who gave some of the memorable moments of glory to the country.

one of the problems with hockey in recent times is that our Indian team is performing consistently poor in international tournaments. that is one reason for people not watching hockey..
